In a recent media event, Levi’s South Africa presented the new Line 8 Menswear Collection. Dubbed as the premium offering of denim from the brand for the young 16 – 24 year old market, the collection comes at pretty much twice the price with every bit of reasoning for that solidified in the collections texture, treatment, comfort levels, simplicity and quality. The collection also boasts a few design details that differentiate the premium collection from the regular house brand: no rivets – yes, no rivets. So those bronze ‘buttons’ you get on your regular Levi’s denims don’t exist on the Line 8 Collection items; Black instead of red – the tab on the pockets has been re-visioned in black, aptly making the collection slicker and more inclusively exclusive; the styles, albeit standard, have been revised to fit a more luxurious standard – including the shorter collar on the one-pocket shirt. In keeping with the strategy of luxury in simplicity, the brand has kept the styles being released to the bare minimum, including the release of only two styles in denim bottoms, namely: the 511 Slim in Black Indigo and the 519 Super Skinny in Black.
